Who we are

MoneyCalc publishes free paycheck and tax calculators for U.S. states. This policy explains what information is collected when you use the site, why, and what control you have over it. Contact us at hello@moneycalc.example with any question about it.

Calculator inputs are never collected

This is the most important point on the page. Every calculation on this site runs locally in your browser using JavaScript. Your salary, hourly wage, bonus, filing status, 401(k) percentage, business revenue and every other number you enter:

• are never transmitted to our servers;
• are never stored, logged or retained by us;
• are never sold, shared or disclosed to anyone.

When you change a value, the shareable part of the calculation — the salary figure and filing status — is written into your browser’s address bar so you can bookmark or share the result. That happens entirely in your browser. If you choose to share such a link, be aware that the salary figure is visible in the URL. Nothing sensitive beyond those two values is ever placed in the address bar.

Information collected automatically

Like nearly all websites, our hosting provider records standard technical information when a page is served: IP address, browser type and version, device type, referring page, and the time of the request. This is used for security, abuse prevention and keeping the site running. We do not use it to build a profile of you.

Analytics

We may use Google Analytics 4 to understand which pages people find useful — for example, which states get the most visits, and whether people find the calculator they were looking for. Google Analytics sets cookies and processes information about your visit, including a truncated IP address.

We do not send any calculator input to Google Analytics or to any other analytics service. You can opt out of Google Analytics entirely using Google’s opt-out browser add-on.

Advertising

We intend to fund this site with display advertising through Google AdSense. When advertising is enabled:

• Google and its partners may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this and other websites.
• Google’s use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads based on your visit to our site and other sites on the internet.
• You can opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings, or opt out of third-party vendor cookies at aboutads.info/choices.
• Third-party vendors, including Google, may use cookies to serve ads based on a user’s prior visits to this website.

We never pass your calculator inputs to advertising networks. Ad units are placed away from calculator controls and results so they cannot be clicked by accident.

Cookies

Cookies on this site fall into three groups:

• Strictly necessary — set by our host for security and to serve pages correctly.
• Analytics — set by Google Analytics, if enabled, to measure page usage.
• Advertising — set by Google and its partners, if advertising is enabled, to serve and measure ads.

You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Blocking analytics and advertising cookies does not affect the calculators, which work entirely offline in your browser.

Where required by law — for example for visitors in the European Economic Area, the United Kingdom or Switzerland — a consent notice will be shown before any non-essential cookie is set, and advertising will operate in a non-personalised mode unless consent is given.

Your rights

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or restrict the processing of personal information about you, to object to processing, or to opt out of the “sale” or “sharing” of personal information.

Because we do not collect calculator inputs and do not maintain user accounts, there is usually very little personal information for us to act on — but we will respond to any request. Email hello@moneycalc.example with “Privacy” in the subject line. Requests relating to advertising or analytics cookies are often best directed to Google using the opt-out links above, since that data sits with them rather than with us.

California residents: we do not sell personal information for money. Advertising cookies may constitute “sharing” for cross-context behavioural advertising under the CCPA/CPRA, and the Google Ads Settings link above is the mechanism to opt out.

Children

This site is intended for adults managing their own pay and taxes. It is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them.

Data retention and security

We hold no database of user information. Server logs held by our hosting provider are retained only for the period necessary for security and operations. The site is served over HTTPS.

Third-party links

We link to government agencies and official tax publications so you can verify our figures. Those sites have their own privacy policies, which we do not control.

Changes to this policy

We will update this page if our practices change — for example when advertising is switched on — and will revise the “last updated” date at the top.
